4 of The Best Shopping Markets in London

London is definitely the best shopping hotspot in all of the UK, if not Europe, so you are in for a treat if you’re heading to London and want to do some great shopping!

All across the city, there are fantastic designer shops, high street shops, and independent boutiques, however, one of the most special parts about shopping in London is all of the shopping markets. From food to vintage clothing, jewellery and homeware, you can enjoy some of the best products that London has to offer.

So, make sure you incorporate a few of these markets into your itinerary for London and we know you won’t regret it.

Camden Market

Camden Market

If you’re looking for a bit of everything, Camden Market is the place to go. You can spend the whole day here, as there is everything from vintage shops to boutiques and street signs all in one place. Some highlights include Mod-inspired outfitters, the Camden Tea company, and statement jacket shops. This is also great if you’re looking for jewellery, as you can get everything from really quirky rings to specific piercing jewellery like tragus earrings.

Plus, we haven’t even gotten onto the food yet! When we say this is some of the best street food in London, we really mean it, as there is everything from homemade pasta to Korean food, Turkish treats, Hawaiian poke bowls, and incredible Argentinian smoked meat. Overall, this market has a bit of everything for everyone, so make sure you go with a full purse and an empty belly!

Borough Market

Borough Market

Borough Market is another great all-around market, consisting of three main areas; Three Crown Square which is where the larger merchants are, Green Market which is where the smaller produce traders are and then the Borough Market Kitchen where you will find all of the street food.

There are more than 100 stalls across the whole market, all of which bring something unique to the space which is full of history and culture. Although you can pick up so much amazing stuff here, from London souvenirs to independent jewellery pieces, the main highlights at Borough Market are the local produce stalls, with cheeses from East Sussex, handmade nut butters and local bakes. You can eat at the market or get some great produce to take home and enjoy!

Covent Garden Market

Apple Market in Covent Garden

Another highlight when it comes to markets in London is Covent Garden Market, which originates as a world-famous fruit and veg market, but is now more focused on handmade crafts throughout the week. With one-off antiques on a Monday and then handmade jewellery, art, and prints throughout the rest of the week.

This is a much smaller market than the ones above, however, it is so quirky and gives you the opportunity to support so many local vendors who will really appreciate your purchase.

Portobello Road Market

Portobello Road

Our personal favourite when it comes to markets in London is Portobello Road market, which is a vintage market that also has street food stations. It is just around the corner from Notting Hill tube station, open Monday to Saturday, with Saturday being the busiest day.

On Saturdays, there are hundreds of stalls along the road, with everything from bric-a-brac to fresh fruit and veg, as well as some of the most delicious street food from all over the world. The main days to visit are definitely Friday or Saturday to get the full experience, and this is definitely worth visiting as it offers such a different experience to the other London markets.
